In today's world, access to education is critical in breaking the cycle of poverty and providing opportunities for a brighter future. However, many communities around the world, particularly in slum areas, lack access to quality education due to a lack of resources and infrastructure.
To address this issue in one such community, Pop-Up Housing NGO in collaboration with Diya Ghar was involved in executing and running a classroom facility. The structural framework was built using recycled slotted angle frames, and cement boards were used for the walling. Once the structure was complete, installation of doors, windows other necessary fixtures and fittings was done to create a fully functional classroom.
Pleased to have been part of the design and execution of this portable classroom in Thubrahalli slum community in Bangalore. The objective was to provide Infrastructural support to migrant workers' children who face significant challenges in accessing basic educational facilities.
The project was a sterling example of community engagement, generous donors, local support, active volunteers, proactive staff and skilled fitters collaborating effectively in completion of the project. The classroom is a crucial resource for the children in the community as it provides a safe and conducive learning environment to help them acquire essential skills and knowledge.
Had the privilege of working with a team of dedicated and passionate professionals Sampat Althur, Saraswathi Padmanabhan, Terence kanikaraj and Paul whose efforts majorly contributed to the success of the project.
Extending my appreciation to everyone involved in making this project a reality and look forward to further collaborations in supporting the needs of such communities.
