Community Structures
Why
Beyond secure housing, migrants and slum residents lack access to public resources and services to improve their lives. While NGOs and charities work in these communities, they require space for their services - from classrooms for children to waste collection facilities, livelihood training centers, community workspaces, healthcare clinics, and community centers for marginalized members of the community. Adequate housing represents a foundation of stability for migrants or other BOP families. Community structures house the services, networks, and organizational activities that promise a stairway to upward societal mobility.
Who
NGOs partner with us to provide structures for classrooms, community centers, clinics, self-help groups (SHGs), livelihood training centers, and community centers for vulnerable communities including the LGBTQIA+ community. Learn more about our network or how to partner with us.
What
Because we use a modular approach to building community structures, we are able to customize each structure according to local input and material availability. We use lightweight bolted metal angles for the frame and finish the structures with sustainable and recycled materials whenever possible - from recycled tetra-packs and to waste plastic composite board.
How
With access to community resources for health, education, and livelihood training, community members are able to realize incredible gains for themselves and their families. By creating nodes for marginalized community members to interact in, we are contributing toward more resilient communities in the area we serve.
